Hamlet Video Response
In the different renditions of Hamlet, we got to see unique interpretations of William Shakespeare's play. The oldest rendition, by Oliver, displayed Hamlet extremely dejected while receiving special and sexual attention from his mother as the main focus of his piece. In Jacobi's rendition, Hamlet is more powerful and less depressed and submissive...his version focuses slightly less on the edipus complex and more on the love triangle. In Mel Gibson's version, Claudius is barely in the room...and it focuses again more on the edipus complex and intimate relationship between hamlet and his mother. Lastly, in the Kenneth Branagh rendition, Hamlet is very connected and understanding when he is being talked to privately...but when claudius begins to address the crowd as a whole, Hamlet becomes dejected and keeps his head down in dissapointment towards his mother's affection towards a new man.
